*MY THOUGHTS*
After reading Black Ice I was excited to see Fitzpatrick with another thriller on the way. I was even more excited to see that this one featured the Witness Protection program because I've never read anything featuring that before. Sadly when I opened the book it was nothing like I was expecting it to be.
Stella is not who everyone thinks she is. She's actually part of the Witness Protection Program and and she's running from her mom's drug dealer, who she is testifying against soon. But she's not at all happy about it. She's left everything she was excited about for the upcoming year to go to a podunk town that no one can even find on a map. But then she meets one person who makes her time there finally worth while.
The main reason I couldn't finish this one was the MC. She as TERRIBLE. Many people said through out the book she goes through some enormous growth, but at page 202 she was still a spoiled rich girl that was angry at the world and being rude and disrespectful to everyone that was doing nothing but trying to help her. After awhile she just got on my nerves enough to just say forget having any faith in her.
The other problem I had with this book was the fact it was labeled as a thriller, suspenseful, and a mystery. By page 202 THERE WAS NOTHING THRILLER LIKE HAPPENING. And this was so disappointing because I know she knows how to make them so scary you bit your nails off because it showed in her other thriller. But I'm not even sure what to say about this one. It wasn't scary at all 200 pages in! Then come to find out it does get intense towards the end, but only after the answers start coming in. It was pretty pointless. I might have liked it better had they just called it a contemp.
This one was pretty disappointing and I can't say I'm happy I wasted an entire off day reading it. Hopefully her next one will come back and redeem this one later on!
