Jennifer L. Armentrout, New York Times bestselling author of the Wait for You series, delivers a new novel of first love, second chances, and scorching chemistry between an artistic bartender and the tough, sexy cop who's determined to win her Roxy's loved Reece Anders since she was fifteen, so when the straitlaced cop finally surrendered to a steamy encounter years later, Roxy hoped he'd fall for her, too. He didn't. Or that's what she's always believed. But then Reece storms back into her life when the man who injured her childhood friend is out of prison and wanting to make amends—something Roxy cannot do.
The last thing she wants is to go there with Reece again, but he's determined to prove to her that he's exactly what she needs. Especially when a sick creep starts messing with her. But what's more dangerous to Roxy—a psycho after her or the past that refuses to let go and allow her to open up her heart again?

BETWEEN THE COVERS!

*"This book is part of the new adult contemporary romance genre! It is more mature than both YA and MG. I have featured it in Between the Covers as a way to feature the few Adult and New Adult titles I am beginning to read!"

*MY THOUGHTS*

I was not expecting to like this one as much as I did. I read some reviews saying that it wasn't as great as the rest of the series, so I have to admit that I wasn't expecting to like it as much. But that just goes to show you no matter what other reviews say, always read it if you want to, just to form your own opinion.
"...love was a scary four letter word."
pg. 130
Roxy has been avoiding Reece for a year and on the outside she couldn't be happier. On the inside she misses him more than she even knows. Reece has been letting Roxy ignore him... Until it becomes too much. He makes her stop fidgeting and they finally talk. And they both realize things are very different than they thought. Like world changing, eye opening different.
"Liking someone makes us stupid."
pg. 134
My favorite part of this book was the characters. I could have sworn that Roxy was me in fiction. She was super short, wore glasses, had purple hair (mine was purple before my job ruled we couldn't color our hair any longer), she wore super cool saying t-shirts, she had a temper, and so many more comparisons. I LOVED her character. The only thing I disliked about her was how naiive she was. She believed anything and everything everyone told her and I was upset that she didn't even try to see things the right way. And then there was Reece. Dare I say it, but I think he has taken Jase's spot. *hides face* Omg that hurt my heart to say, but it's true. Reece is a super hot cop.... Yes a MAN IN UNIFORM. Add that on to the fact that he is like the KING of one liners (whether it be funny or sexy) and I couldn't help it. I fell head over heels for him.
"One never knew when their life was about to be irrevocably altered. There was no warning. If anything, it always came when everything was calm and good."
pg. 153
As for their romance, I loved seeing them together. With all the guilt and weight they had sitting on their shoulders, I really felt they deserved everything they could give each other. I loved that it was so obvious that they loved each other to everyone but Roxy. She had so much that she had to go through, but when she finally did, it made their relationship all the more sweet. As for the smexy times, OMG Reece was almost too hot to handle. Trust me when I tell you this, they made me put my book down to fan myself with it.
"Today... today sucked. Yesterday sucked. Tomorrow had to be better."
pg. 205
Lastly, I want to talk about the story lines. Charlie's was the main one and there was another that seem to come out of left field. Strange things were happening and I could see what would freak her out. To be honest, it was freaking me out too. I definitely pulled that "Don't go in there! Turn around!"  yelling like people do at movies, but I was yelling my comments at a book. I knew exactly where everything was heading with this story line. Charlie's story line was the one that took me by surprise. I had no idea where that one would end. And when it finally got there, I couldn't believe it. So different than what I was thinking would happen.
"That's me, Mr. Thoughtful. Shaking my head, I fixed my glass as they started to slip. "You're also Mr. Arrogant." It's called being well rounded."
pg. 190
Overall, this isn't my favorite in the series, but I'm not saying I didn't like it. I loved this book and I loved seeing Avery and Cam, Teresa and Jase, and Calla and Jax. They are all doing so good and I'm thinking there will be something going on with one of them... (I won't say who just in case I'm right and its a spoiler...) Now I can't wait to get Colton and now Nick's story now that I know who it's with! This series just keeps getting better and better.
Overall, I give this
